Sir Sathya Sai Seva Organisation started with the advent of Sri Sathya Sai Avatar and his divine love flowing through the divine manifestations in all corners of the Globe. The main architect and motivator for the formation any unit of the organisation is Bhagavan Baba himself.
After the historic announcement of the avatar in October 1940, the pilgrimage of seekers stared towards Puttaparti, presently in the state of Andhra Pradesh. To carry bhajans in a systematic and regular way, Sri Sathya Sai Bhajan Center was inaugurated for the 1st time in Parsantinilayam in the Divine presence in march, 1963.
From 1965 this moment started spreading in Orissa and the 1st Seva Samiti was formed in March, 1967 in Jatni town of the old Puri district. Then the samitis like Berhampur, Rourkela, Cuttack, Balasore, Sambalpur, Burla, Jharsuguda, Bhubaneswar, Sunabeda, Dhenkanal, Hirakud and Raigeda etc. started in Orissa. Bhagavan Baba nominated State Presidents to different states in 1st World Conference. Orissa was blessed with the nomination of the state president in 1969, to expand Sai Seva Activities ion the state of Orissa.
By 1995, 99 samities, 382 seva groups were working in Orissa. By this time 4,406 male and 2990 female workers were there in Orissa and the total membership was of the order of 6663.
Bhajans, Nagar Sankirtans, sadhana camps, study circles, bal vikas, services actvities in villages and towns are held regularly by all units to strengthen the spiritual base of the population.
It is propose to hold the state conference in Paradeep Port Samiti, in April 2000. It has been decided to hold Workshops among the sai Workers, so that the quality in general is improved while doing service work and each sai worker is trained in some type of skill for performing service activities and bal vikas works.
